Bibendum’s Bibendum Times website has been named as the UK most influential wine blog by Wikio in their January 2011 rankings.

Bibendum Times was placed 6th in the Beer and Wine blogs category in a list dominated by beer blogs. It was the only wine blog in the Top 10. Wikio measures the influences of blogs using the number of incoming links from other blogs and Twitter.

Bibendum Times was launched in November 2009 and features news and articles on all aspects of food, wine and spirits. The website is updated daily with articles written by a diverse community of contributors including Bibendum employees, bloggers, winemakers and sommeliers.

Gareth Groves, Bibendum Communications Manager, said: “We are delighted by the on-going success of Bibendum Times and see the website as being at the heart of our social media strategy. It is clear that there is a genuine demand for intelligent and engaging online content about wine and we are thrilled to be a part of that conversation.”

Erica Fowler, Bibendum Digital Marketing Manager, added: “The importance of social media for all sorts of businesses increases daily and at Bibendum we are committed to using our expertise to help our customers utilise and benefit from it.”

Bibendum will be hosting a dedicated social media zone at its Bibendum EC1 trade tasting on Wednesday 26th January helping customers who are interested in using social media to understand how they can make it work for their business.

Other highly-ranked wine blogs on Wikio include Drinking Outside The Box (Simon Woods), Bordeaux Undiscovered, Spittoon (Andrew Barrow) and The Wine Conversation (Rob McIntosh).
